Get well soon Matt

Matt Tong suffered a collapsed lung following Bloc Party's performance in Atlanta last night. He was taken to hospital after their support slot for Panic! At The Disco at the HiFi Buys Amphitheatre.

According to a statement from the band: "Doctors at the hospital in Atlanta say Matt is in a comfortable condition and not in any danger. He will however be staying in hospital for at least the next three days for observation and it's not clear at this stage when Matt will be fit to resume performing."

This means that Bloc Party will definitely miss the next four shows on the Panic! At The Disco tour: Charlotte Cricket Arena (10.11.06), Washington Patriot Center (11.11.06) and New York Madison Square Garden Theatre (13.11.06, 14.11.06).

Update: Matt actually hurt himself before the gig, and so played the whole show with a collapsed lung. That's stamina for you! Well-wishers can send flowers/Lucozade/cards/drumsticks to him at:

I was at the show as well, saw Kele checking up on you, didn't think it was serious. You tore it up, man. The whole band put Jack's and Panic! to shame. Please get better soon! We all appreciate your amazing effort in Atlanta!

Wow, now I'm upset for TWO reasons today! 1st, I didn't even get to go to the show last night due to the fact that I had school, I had no one to take me and that I'm broke; and 2nd, the drummer to my favorite band got himself hurt!!! Well dude, I hope you get better really soon so I can hear you thrash on the drums again.

Yeah I was at the Atlanta show and Matt siad that, he felt like he had a broken rib. Even with his collapsed lung Matt still played an amazing show

I heard about Matt's injury today and I was absolutely devastated. I am going to the concert on Nov. 18th in Lowell, MA for the sole reason of seeing my favorite band of all time, Bloc Party, in action. I could care less about the other bands playing. I really hope that they can play, or else it will suck to go to that show and not witness their glory first hand. GET WELL SOON MATT, preferably ASAP.
