'A Weekend In The City' out now! Today's date has been circled on every Bloc Party fan's calendar since October last year. (Unless you've been hiding in a cave for the past four months, in which case you'll be unaware that Bloc Party's second album, 'A Weekend In The City', is in the shops NOW, or tomorrow if you're in the States!)
So, as Gwen Stefani once said, what you waiting for? Follow this seven-step plan for instant gratification:
"Where Is Home?" is the only weak song. "Waiting For The 7.18" has morphed into a beautiful anthem. The album's conclusion with "Sunday" followed by the heart-achingly beautiful (stole that phrase from a review of "Sea Change" by Beck) "SRXT"... This album is an echo of Silent Alarm, but louder.

I have done it all on Friday :) Just love the release dates of the netherlands, always 3 days before the rest of the world :P
It's one of those albums that grow on you over time, after a few listens you appreciate where the band's direction is heading even though the only concern i have is that they are narrowing the song types. Where Silent Alarm had Like Eating Glass, Banquet and So Here We Are in one album, this one, even though its great, seems to be focusing too much on one area...hopefully this leads to a great, varied and balanced 3rd album. Sorry too much writing, my bad Overall - Like A Fungus...it grows on you
I pre ordered mine and got it on friday, almost died when i opened it!! Havent stopped listening yet, im in love with the whole album, especially uniform!!
it's unbelievably incredible. my pre-ordered copy hadn't come in time for college so i went to tesco and bought another just to look at in my free. i have also bought the girlfriend a copy and am waiting for the vinyl :D best day ever
ARGH, here in the US I've pre-ordered it on itunes...still can't get it until tomorrow, until then i'm stuck with I Still Remember, all the Prayer remixes, and a live version of Uniform...ehh!
such a fantastic album, 100x more diverse than silent alarm. However, because of its diversity, it is unfair to compare the two albums. they are two different pieces of art. favorites songs: i still remember, uniform, song for clay. cant wait for album #3 guys, and Im sure that AWITC will last me until then :D also cant wait to see them in Manchester next Wednesday (valentines day) :D

"Where Is Home?" is the only weak song" -Anonymous
loved it instantly after the first listen. having trouble listening to it a second time in the event of not overdoing it, though I've got a feeling it may never get too old. a phenomenal album.
AMAZING ALBUM! people just seem to dislike "where is home" and i dont see why? that song along with the prayer have the best lyrics in the album and it was beautifully done. When it comes to me i love the album and every single song in it. BLOC PARTY!!

I saw it in HMV on the Friday before it was supposed to be out... the LIMITED EDITION TOO! It's a really great album, and the instruments are spellbinding as usual, Uniform, Song For Clay, and SRXT is probably the best songs on it. If you listen to the lyrics to SRXT - you start crying, believe me. Great album, cannot wait for #3. Oh, yeah, and the DVD that came with the limited edition isn't that great... But the music... Thumbs up. 10/10
FOR THE FANS IN THE STATES: Target is offering an limited version of "A Weekend In The City" with two exclusive bonus tracks: "Secret" (the song posted on here a few days ago, it's on CD!) and "The Once And Future King" (previously available at mtv.ca). No sign of the other bonus tracks though...
