Next single...'One Month Off'

Bloc Party have confirmed their next single will be 'One Month Off', probably the most radio-friendly track on 'Intimacy' (it's got a key change!). It'll be released on January 26th 2009 to coincide with their upcoming UK tour. Check back soon for the tracklisting!

i agree. this is by far my least favorite bloc party song. i'm a huge fan, but this song just tries too hard and is worn out at the first listen. reminds me of a bad spin on cavaliers and roundheads. (anyone else hear version 2.0 as the opening part of one month off?) one month off is too repetitive for me--worse than mercury--and the key change is not a good thing. plus, it sounds awful live. i would have liked to see better than heaven as their next single...

i used to think it was average but it's one of my favorites now, and its not that bad live! i love the bit where kele sings "lies,lies,lies..." in that really squeeky voice. i think it should have been included in the album version! i agree, a song like better than heaven is better but i used to think talons is better than mercury but if you compare them in the charts, mercury nearly did twice as good as talons! one month off is a good release for the public, cos the public don't undrestand bloc party like us bloc party fans!!!!

ARES hands down. :)
i still dont like one month off enough, sorry.
anyway, how about ion square? is it just me or does anyone else think it should be a single?

one month off is a really predictable choice for the next single. It would either be that or signs. ares isn't nearly as public friendly.

They better include b-sides, or i'm gonna be pissed.

since when did bloc party become concerned with making radio-friendly songs, making the public happy, and getting higher on the charts? if that's what they are trying to do with one month off, it's sad, really. i agree that better than heaven, ion square, and even ares would have been better singles for the true fans. hoping for awesome b-sides!

Biko or Better Than Heaven should have been their next single. Ion Square would have been a good choice too but its too long, a radio edit wouldn't work well for it.
One Month Off just sounds terrible.

I love the song, it's in my Top 3 Intimacy tracks, but it's NOT a single. Surely Halo or something would've been better.

single choices don't really matter though... as someone said, the general public don't really "know" bloc party, so why do we care what they blare out of their phones on the top deck of the bus?

One month off is pretty much my least favorite Bloc Party song ever. Why not Signs? According to itunes and just my opinion it is the most accessible track on Intimacy...plus it's actually a good song!
